Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Click here to watch a video...
The process of becoming a Catholic is called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) and the Rite of Christian Initiation adapted for Children (R.C.I.C.). It is for non-baptized persons and for baptized persons of Christian denominations. The R.C.I.A. process starts with weekly Inquiry meetings in September. These meetings are designed to help the person wanting to become a Catholic to obtain answers about the church in order to help the individual discern the extent of his/her call. We also invite persons baptized in the Catholic faith tradition who have not received the sacrament(s) of Confirmation and/or Eucharist.<
The R.C.I.A. process continues with weekly meetings in October and comes to a completion with the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation, that is, Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist during Easter time followed by a period of Mystagogia. The formal process ends approximately at Pentecost. If you or someone you know, is interested in joining our Catholic faith, please contact Trisha Labbe at (985) 345-3360, ext. 28, or [email protected].
Congratulations to our Elect & Candidates on this next step in their RCIA/RCIC journey...the Rite of Election with Bishop Duca at St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge. Please keep all of our participants in your prayers as they prepare to be received into full communion at the Easter Vigil.
