The Prophets: messengers of God’s mercy a ten-part bible study program
April 9—May 28
Wednesdays, 6:00—8:00 PM
@ Saxon House <610 N. Magnolia St.>
Zoom available
God sent prophets at critical times to call the people of Israel back to their covenant relationship. Prophets proclaimed the consequences of continued sin, called people to repentance, and declared God’s faithful love. They also spoke of the future to shed light on current events and to reveal God’s plans and purposes. It is nearly impossible to understand the work and the message of Jesus without the prophetic books. In the course, Thomas Smith examines who the prophets were, their role during their time, and the meaning of their messages for our own time. Discover how God is constantly calling you to a deeper relationship as well as the ways you are called to be the voice of God to others.
This course is a production of Ascension Press and is free to the public and all faith Traditions are welcome. Classes will start April 9 and end May 28. The faith formation group meets each Wednesday evening at 6 PM to 8 Pm, in the Saxon house, directly across from the church adjacent to the Parish Office. Those who cannot attend classes in person can join us over the internet via Zoom. Classes are objective driven, and participants read and answer questions in their workbook, discuss their answers in a group setting and watch video explanations of the questions as presented by the author.
All participants will be required to purchase the paperback workbook, costing $28. They can be purchased on line from Ascension Press at the web address below. For more information, please contact John Gravette, (504) 338-4103.
