The Holy Ghost Fair is the gift that keeps on giving!
For most of us it could seem like a weekend in October when we enjoyed some roasted corn, grilled oysters, or funnel cake (among many other delicious options!). The Fair is truly a weekend that strengthened the bonds of our community. Additionally, the proceeds from the weekend have allowed us to fund larger projects to improve the Holy Ghost campus without having recourse to any kind of special collection or capital campaign.
Besides all the food booths and rides, the Parish Hall was full of silent auction items! Among them was the item below: Our congratulations go to the family who won this auction item, a true soccer fan! After a few months, and with the help of the school PE teachers, a plan was devised to redeem this auction item and make it fun for the winner and his friends. After all, gifts are enjoyed best when they are shared.
As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.
1 Peter 4:10
The gifts we've received are to be shared. Some gifts are material, others are spiritual. Some gifts are for the benefit of some, or of a few. Even the gift of playing soccer was shared to create beautiful memories and learn that everything we receive, even when it appears to be solely for us, is better put to use when shared with others!
